Unreal Level / Perforce Basics
This assignment was to create a level in Unreal and upload it to Perforce. It provided us a chance to get used to working with assets in Unreal and uploading our work into Perforce.
I really enjoyed working on this level. I didn't get to work much in Unreal in undergrad, so I took this as an opportunity to learn more about the engine. This was the first time I've gotten to work with the landscape and foliage modes, and I enjoyed learning about how they work!
As I worked on this level, I looked for opportunities to give personality to the environment. Trying to answer questions like, who lives here? and, what do they do? I imagined a man who lived here alone, but enjoyed the solitude, spending his time drinking beer and appreciating nature.
Looking back, I probably could've toned down the hilly landscape, LOL, but I was certainly having fun. As a fan of games like the Sims and Animal Crossing, it almost felt like a game!
I appreciated working more with Perforce, too. This definitely helped me feel more comfortable with the program, and I'm not scared of it anymore, yay! I look forward to working more with Perforce and learning more Tech Art! :D
